About Ronn

Born in 1949, Ronn Easton was raised by his grandmother, who instilled in him a foundational principle that would guide his entire life: "Do the Right Thing." Seeking opportunities beyond the constraints of the segregated South, he relocated to Cleveland, Ohio at age 14, where he graduated from Shaw High School in 1968.

After briefly attending Central State University for two quarters, Ronn made the difficult decision to leave his studies when two of his closest friends were killed in action in Vietnam. Compelled by duty and loss, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1968. Military Service Ronn completed basic training at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, followed by Advanced Individual Training at Fort Lee, Virginia, where he specialized as an Armorer (MOS 76Y30). He served with distinction in the 5th Battalion, 42nd Artillery Regiment in the Republic of Vietnam. He completed his service and was honorably discharged at Fort Belvoir, Virginia in October 1972.

Career and Service Following his military service, Ronn relocated to Minnesota, where he built a diverse and impactful career. He dedicated over two decades to public health as a Disease Investigator with the Minnesota Department of Health from 1991 to 2013, focusing on the reduction of sexually transmitted diseases and HIV—work that directly reflected his grandmother's teachings about doing right by his community. Alongside his public service career, Ronn pursued his passion as a professional entertainer for four decades, bringing joy and connection to countless audiences throughout his career.
